Maarten van der Weijden is a former Dutch open water and marathon swimmer. In 2001, he was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. But he didn't give up, and after recovery he turned back to his passion; open water swimming. After years of hard work, he achieved his goal at the 2008 Olympics: gold.
